As we progress through our careers, it’s important to constantly strive for improvement and growth. Whether we’re looking to advance in our current positions or branch out into new fields, staying up-to-date on the latest skills and knowledge is key to success. And with the vast array of resources available online, it’s easier than ever to find the information we need to continue learning and improving.

One of the most valuable resources for professional development is YouTube. With millions of educational videos available on a wide range of topics, it’s an incredibly valuable resource for anyone looking to learn new things. From technical skills and software tutorials, to leadership and communication strategies, there is a wealth of knowledge to be found on YouTube.

Like a lot of content creation channels, there are the ones that shows more unique and extreme cases rather than more general topics. Also, “Cyber Security” is a very broad term so i believe that these channels might help out with “having a taste” of each topics that goes under the cyber security umbrella.

In this blog post, we’ll delve into how YouTube can be a valuable tool for career growth. We’ll also highlight some of the best channels to follow for professional development.

NetworkChuck

NetworkChuck is one of the most popular channels out there these days. On this channel you will find many types of content, from IT to hacking.

Each video most likely to be concentrated in one tool or an experiment that NetwrokChuck dives into. It also has many recommendation videos of platforms and other Cyber and IT related issues. This Channel should be relevant to anyone that is curious about the Cyber security world and IT world in general – Beginners might find some really amazing gems there.

John Hammond – Beginners & Intermediate

This is my personal favorite. I think that John Hammond gets to do content that is a bit of everything but still gets into practical and sometimes very technical projects. I think that he found some sweet spot that not many were able to find in their channels. His content can include malware analysis videos, interviews with other cyber security professionals, me included, showing tools, CTF challenges and much more!

I really highly recommend watching his videos, he is truly doing great work, especially if you are a beginner or an intermediate level that want to explore new fields.

Taylor Walton – All Levels

Where do i even begin with this dude?? honestly his channel has everything! i do believe he is less popular than a lot but with no good reason!

Taylor’s channel offer so much valuable content that it actually seems like he works only for that content.

In his channel, you can find things from how to create and install your own sandbox, tones of information about all that there is to know about Security Operation Center (SOC), HoneyPots, threat intelligence platforms such as MISP, networking, web hacking, you name it!

I honestly think that anyone, from any level can find valuable content there. I surly do!

Neil Fox – Intermediate

Short but sweet!

Neil Fox has a YouTube channel with very few but priceless videos.

Neil Fox has 13 videos, 10-15 minutes each, of everything you need to know of malware analysis, how to create you malware lab, tools & techniques, Sandboxing, TTPs, and reverse engineering.

I do believe that this channel is for people that are already have been in the industry and are looking to expand their knowledge and to improve and expand their horizons. Plus his theme is sick!

The OSINT Curious Project – All Levels

The OSINT Curious Project is an amazing project when people from the OSINT community that are veterans established in order to teach and discuss OSINT.

Given the fact that, in my opinion, OSINT skills depends sometimes on creativity and detective skills and not only technical abilities, it is very important to feed yourself with ideas and stories of other professionals, especially if they are way more experienced than ourselves.

The channel’s creators also created a Discord server for the community and there are so many ways to improve on that.

Personally, i don’t claim to be an OSINT master, but if i will ever look to improve at that, this is surely where i would begin my journey.

BlackPerl – Intermediate & Advanced

BlackPerl is this cool dude that is actually one of the very few people i know that makes targeted content on threat intelligence.

His YouTube channel has almost ANY type of threat intelligence hunting demonstrations and tutorials.

I do believe that beginners will have a bit of hard time understanding or establishing some of the tools he is working with.

Highly recommended to whoever wants to understand better what threat hunting is all about.

PwnFunction – All Levels

Absolutely love that dude. his YouTube channel included almost anything you can think about – reversing, code analysis, web security, binary exploitations, CTFs and so much more.

Although he is very popular, he keeps his content very straightforward and directed to educate and share his massive knowledge and we should definitely take advantage of that and show support of this type of people in my opinion.

Dr Josh Stroschein – All Levels

I wrote a whole blog post of recommendation about this YouTube channel and i believe that this might be one of the most important channels to learn from given the extensive explanation of how everything works within our OS and how everything comes together when we analyzing a malware, reverse engineering it, writing a C code and more.

Also, and i can not stress that enough, this is, in my opinion of course, the ONLY reliable source to learn Assembly from. To whoever that wants to specialize in reverse engineering this is key.

MalwareAnalysisForHedgehogs – All levels

I am so glad that this YouTube channel is starting to take off. It seems that up until recently there was no consistency in this channel but now it seems like the creator is truly doing some work!

This channel mainly focusing on malware analysis and reversing. What i actually really love about this channel that there is also recommendations of tools and comparison between tools and platforms which is very important.

In addition, there are things like books review, understanding basic principles such as process injection, Anti-Debugging and much more. The last two are very important to understand, because unlike more “old school” educational content, these techniques are implemented today almost any malware there is out there unlike several years ago when only the best of the best used these techniques.

OALabs – Intermediate & Advanced

If you are looking to watch highly skilled reveres engineers doing their work on many interesting malwares and really digging deep into their insides, exploring their techniques, etc., i highly recommend the OALabs YouTube channel.

This channel is one of the most technical channels out there and it shows us a glimpse of how reverse engineers work looks like. The guys at OALabs explains us step by step how they are working and thinking in their pursuit of the answers.

In addition, OALabs are the ones to develop the Unpac Me platform which is one of our favorite tools for unpacking malware samples.

Although this channel has a lot of amazing content, i would recommend it for people who already know a thing or two about malware analysis and OS internals. In my personal opinion it is very complex for beginners.

dist67 – Intermediate & Advanced

The legendary Didier Stevens!

To whoever doesn’t know, Didier Stevens is one of the most talented professionals out there regarding… well honestly anything – Cryptography, malware loading, OS internals, analysis and much more.

He is mostly focusing on decryption and loading process of malwares in his videos, both from HTMLs or malicious documents.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! I dont think you can learn about malware loading from malicious document almost anywhere, and Didier is one of the few people that can teach you exactly that. Given the fact that it is a very important and popular phase in delivering malwares, we should all know as much as we can about analyzing it.

David Bombal – All Levels

David Bombal is a well-known figure in the world of technology, with a popular YouTube channel that focuses on networking and software development. Bombal’s channel is a go-to resource for professionals looking to learn new skills and stay up-to-date on the latest technologies.

Bombal’s videos cover a wide range of topics, including networking protocols, software development, automation, and cybersecurity. His content is designed to be practical and hands-on, with a focus on real-world applications and techniques.

One of the things i really like about David’s channel is the interviews that he does with other security figures.

zSecurity – All Levels

zSecurity is a channel that is dedicated more to hacking content, So all of you boys and girls that are looking to put their hoodies on and break some stuff, zSecurity is your guy.

In addition to his YouTube channel, zSecurity also have several courses that are focusing on hacking and bug bounty. I admit that i haven’t got do to them all, hacking is something that i enjoy understanding, but not actually doing.

Nevertheless, i do believe that this content is appealing to many of you, so i think that this a great place to start!

LiveOverflow

ugh… that dude has SOME SKILL!

LiveOverflow is a very talented YouTuber that enjoys going really deep into the bits and bytes in his videos and he mostly explains deeply about exploits and vulnerabilities, Assembly code, and! my personal favorite – showing exploits on Minecraft servers.

Highly recommend for anyone that enjoys going deep deep into the dark side.

LiveOverflow

Hussein Nasser

I believe that before you get into malware analysis and cyber security in general, there are some crucial foundation you need to have.

You need to learn coding and scripting, OS internals and networking. Hussein Nasser helps us exactly with the third one.

Hussein Nasser’s YouTube channel is full, and i mean FULL, of videos about network, network protocols – complex ones and easy ones, VPNs, Networking architectures, Encryption methods, data management, OSI module, TCP, UDP, Proxy, TOR, NAT, TLS – ANYTHING(!!!).

I am not sure if there many YouTubers that has so much content for all levels. What Hussein does is truly amazing and personally, it helped me a lot during my career.
